I typically will check the movie with MediaInfo and see if I need to force subs on the file after I rip it. I am only concerned with movies like Avatar/30 Days of Night, etc that have FORCED subs. MKV file with the main movie only (sometimes I will also get the extended scenes, but I don't do a lot of extras).Īlso, I have read about MKVtoolnix having issues with compressing subtitles. get to the question right? I have a HUGE collection I need to digitally backup so would something like AnyDVD + MKVtoolnix be a better solution than just MakeMKV, given how many discs I have? I want an uncompressed. Implementing JAVA into MakeMKV has help sniff out the main feature title, but there are still a lot of movies that have this issue, even with JAVA. ![]() So my wife and I chose both physical and digital in the form of backups so we can watch without having to find the disc each time.įor my REMUXES in the past I have used MakeMKV but I definitely get frustrated with some of the discs that have a million different of the same tracks to choose from (obfuscation). I considered doing the VUDU thing, but I value quality uncompressed when watching in my theater. I have been collecting blu-rays/4K's since they came out and now it is time to "go digital" with them. Looks like they're trying to undercut into Slysoft's profits.I will try to make this as short and sweet as possible. I won't get into what they're charging, but with their history of putting something out to make a quick buck, with it not working on a lot of the Dvds out there (to say nothing of Blu ray) and then sometime later releasing a new product to justify yet another run at your wallet (price increase), I'm going to say, 'Thanks but no thanks.'ĮDIT: I checked again, and they have one price for the regular DVD function of Passkey and another for the Blu ray version of Passkey. I'd like to know who came up with the criteria that their product is superior to Slysoft's, who is once again not mentioned at all on their website. #Makemkv vs dvdfab vs anydvd installPasskey for DVD is tested time by time to be superior to any other similar software in the market from the aspects of install package size, physical memory, and GDI." ![]() "Stand out from similar apps on the market (By the way, they spelled Total Media Theatre 3 as ' TotalMedia theatra 3') "Work with a wide range of software to copy, burn, clone."īut they fail to mention CloneDVD2. The competition has released DVDFab Passkey today, and here is what they're saying about it on their website: #Makemkv vs dvdfab vs anydvd licenseThats nearly 3x what a lifetime license to anydvd HD costs wich is arround $120 for both dvd & hd-dvd/blu-ray ripping / decrypting capabilities., and there are other solutions to convert to mkv.Ĭompare prices i always say, in this case the evidence speaks for itself Thats good for a total Standard Price of : 362.40 USD $Įven with the Bundle saving: 63.20 USD $ for the 2 combined thats still a Total Price of: 299.20 USD $ Just checked out the dvdfab site for prices out of curiousity.ĭVDFab DVD Copy + DVD with lifetime subscription will set you back 124.60 USD $ĭVDFab Blu-ray Copy + Blu-ray Ripper will set you back another 174.60 USD $ Something that does not happen with anydvd, + dvdfab uses software designed by other ppl for free, incorporates it into dvdfab and charges you for it. How's that for support.Īs for ripping, well its been tried, tested and proven that discs ripped with dvdfab often have audio and/or video glitches. Hell to give you an example, anydvd added support for the iron man 2 dvd with its new and heavily added protection before it even officialy hit the stores. Anydvd kicks the crap out of DVDFab (yes you can say the name out loud). Well all i can say when it comes to decrypting discs, adding support for new discs, etc. #Makemkv vs dvdfab vs anydvd trialTo top all of that, the trial versions of the software works like the fully operational ones, so 3 weeks will give you enough time to see if any of the Slysoft products are for you. ![]() #Makemkv vs dvdfab vs anydvd PcIn fact, DVDFab doesn't have software that can make a image of your PC disc or DVD (Game Jackal from Slysoft does that), or make copies of your music or data Cd's (CloneCD from Slysoft does that).Īlso, what I like about Slysoft is that their Customer Service is second to none, because I just told them about a glitch I had with the AnyDVD software, and they fixed it within 24 hours: AnyDVD System shortcut not working So, I'll add to what Ch3vr0n has already said: Slysoft's products do much more than copy DVDs. 5 and 5% worse, adding a few dollars more to the total I've just mentioned). Slysoft's total price: about $232.90 US after converting from the Euro (remember though, that your bank could give you an exchange rate between. I just went onto the Slysoft website, and checked how much it is for all of their products (AnyDVD HD, Clone DVD2, CloneDVD mobile, GameJackal, and CloneCD) if you decided to get a lifetime license for each (like I did for my 2 laptops and 1 PC, for a total of 15 lifetime licenses). ![]()
